As a self diagnosed Potato-holic I must confess I stumbled upon a whiskey lovers must try spud recipe on The Lazy Gastronome.
Below you will find the exact recipe with full credit to the creator of this dish.

Cuisine: American
Keyword: bourbon, fried, fries, potatoes
Servings: 2 people
Author: HelenFern
Ingredients
- 2 large yellow potatoes
- 1-3/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons McCormick’s Grill Mates – Brown Sugar Bourbon
- 1-1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup bourbon
- 1/2 cup flour
- pinch malt vinegar powder, optional
Instructions
- Cut the potatoes into strips lengthwise, about 3/8 inch thick.
- Place the potatoes in a large bowl with 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon McCormick’s grill mates, Brown sugar and bourbon (nope, this isn’t a sponsored post – I just love this stuff!!), 1-1/2 cups water and 1/2 cup bourbon. Let soak for about 2 hours.
- Dry the fries on paper towels. While they are drying mix 1/2 cup flour with the remaining salt and grill mates along with a pinch of powdered malt vinegar (optional).
- Dredge the potatoes in the flour mixture then fry until they are a golden brown. Drain and dust with a little more seasoning. Eat them now or keep them warm in the oven in a single layer.
